The historic town of Eton is just five minutes walk over the Windsor & Eton Bridge from the heart of Windsor and sits alongside the River Thames. It is 15 minutes drive from Ascot, and 50 minutes by train or road from London. It is home to world to the famous Eton College, Eton Natural History Museum, The Brocas a large water meadow, The Thames River Path, and Eton Visitor Information whos team are on hand for help with ideas for exploring the town.
The Eton Walkway, a 2-mile/one-hour circular walk, connects 18 points of interest in the town starting at Windsor Bridge. The walkway has permanent bronze markers that are set in the ground to identify the route and use Eton’s coat of arms, originally given to the town by King Henry VI in 1449.
The 18 shields mark: The King’s Stables, the Cockpit, Porny School, Baldwin’s Bridge, Eton College, the Burning Bush, Eton Wall Game at the Timbralls, Skinners’ Bridge, Herschel Observatory, the Gormley Statue, Keate House, the Natural History Museum, Museum of Antiquities, St John’s Church, Jubilee Square, the Brocas and Eton Boat House.
