Nestled at the foot of the Chiltern Hills, Thame boasts historical buildings, beautiful parks, a Museum, a Theatre and a vibrant High Street.
Like many traditional market towns, Thame grew from Anglo-Saxon roots but has since developed its own individual character whilst preserving its rich history; ancient medieval buildings stand alongside Georgian and Victorian architecture and the iconic boat-shaped high street stands as testimony to the market place for which it was originally designed. The town is also one of the most frequently used filming locations for the popular ITV series, Midsomer Murders.
Thame’s 800-year-old weekly charter market has a variety of offers, including fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, clothing and household goods.
Throughout the year, the town hosts a wide variety of events, including Music in the Park, a Carnival, the Arts and Literature Festival, a Street Fair, a Food Festival, the Towersey Festival and more.
Whether your interests are walking, cycling, history, or Midsomer Murders, there are an abundance of trails available in and around Thame. Visitors can find out more from the Information Centre.
