The Isle of Wight is set for another eventful year with an calendar crammed to bursting. The island's nautical links mean it's easy to find events that allow you to spend time in, on or by the water, and with an array of homegrown producers on the island, food festivals, artisan markets, and dining experiences feature heavily in the 2024 events calendar. Heading over to the island with the family? Look out for fantastic added-value events being offered at many of the tourist attractions on the island including real ale fairs, garlic festivals, sundown safaris, and lots more community events to celebrate the summer.
Being an island means water and the coast play a big part in the Isle of Wight's event calendar, from the internationally renowned Round the Island Race (7th June 2025) and Cowes Week (2nd - 8th August 2025), to the many of the castles that once defended the island's shores which now provide great places to dive into history and offer a great value family day out. Make a visit to Carisbrook Castle and walk the walls with their breathtaking views (winter months, weekends only), or visit one of the most famous houses on the Island, Osborne, it's a great choice whenever you visit. Why not take a stroll down to Queen Victoria's private beach and your visit can combine history, the coast and the countryside in one!
As half of the Isle of Wight is a National Landscape, previously known as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB), the dramatic scenery and beautiful countryside play a starring role in any visit, don't miss the West Wight Chilly Hilly 10 mile run, a great way to experience the stunning views or the returning Isle of Wight Walking Festival (10th - 18th May 2025 or 4th - 12th October 2025). You'll find lots of family fun events to enjoy over the festive period, including the award-winning immersive Christmas at Tapnell Farm Park (1st December - 24th December), the chance to visit Father Christmas at Osborne (30th November - 22nd December 24), Boxing Day Specials with Isle of Wight Steam Railway (26th December).
