Cedar Cottage

About

This charming two-bedroom cottage is located in the historic and idyllic village of Old Marston, Oxfordshire. This cottage is an oasis of calm in a beautiful English village setting; the only noise is the sound of church bells from the village church. The cottage is in a lovely countryside setting but only 3km from Oxford city centre. The cottage itself is set in 3/4 acre of beautiful garden, including a gorgeous pond and has been fitted to a high standard. The property is comfortable and has a lovely cottage feel. There are wonderful views over the countryside from the upstairs windows and a picturesque courtyard to enjoy the surroundings in the summer.

This property is owner managed by Alan and his wife. The couple built the cottage as a self-contained extension to their own home. The couple are very thoughtful and will help any visitor feel at home from day one.

Local area and amenities:

Old Marston is an idyllic and delightful village, located 3km northeast of the city centre. It has a lot of historic relevance, Oliver Cromwell visited the village during the English Civil War and the parish church of St Nicholas in the centre of the village dates back to 12th Century. There are lovely walks along the river Cherwell, a major tributary to the Thames, just a few minutes walk from the cottage. There are several excellent pubs in the village serving evening meals and a local shop selling basic amenities. There are several major supermarkets within 1km by car or within a few minutes by bus.

Reviews:

"We found the cottage fully equipped as advertised and it provided a wonderful 'home away from home' during our three week stay in Oxford. Bus connections into Oxford are within a short walking distance but there are two pubs close by in case you don't want to cook in the kitchen. We hope to return someday" Noah. M, Kuwait

"We would definitely recommend this property. Cedar Cottage is the perfect place to stay if you are in Oxford on business or pleasure. The facilities provide everything you need and the location is great. The owners are a lovely friendly couple who made us feel completely at home. We will definitely be staying there on our next visit to Oxford" Gayle. H, Barbados
