Ringwood
New Forest
New Forest
For centuries the New Forest's main market town, with a charter dating back to 1226, Ringwood stands on the western edge of the New Forest at a crossing point of the River Avon.
Ringwood still has a lively Wednesday morning street market and has remained a delightful, unspoilt historic town with both quaint and modern shops, street entertainment, restaurants, pubs and cafes. The town is an ideal touring base for anybody visiting the New Forest.
From the town, take a wander down West Street to view the River Avon from the old three-arched stone bridge or enjoy a stroll around Jubilee Garden. Ringwood is well placed on the Avon Valley Path, a 34-mile long-distance walking route that takes you from the Cathedral city of Salisbury all the way to Christchurch Priory on the South Coast. The town’s Visitor Information Centre can provide you with details of many areas nearby that can be explored on foot, bicycle or horseback as well as information about nearby attractions.
There are plenty of attractions and things to do nearby including Liberty's Owl Raptor and Reptile Centre, Blashford Lakes Wildlife Reserve and Ringwood Brewery.
The A31 runs through the centre of Ringwood from east to west. The town can be accessed by the B3347 from the south and A338 from the north.
