Highcliffe beach is located between the historic town of Christchurch and the picturesque village of Highcliffe-on-Sea. This is a popular beach with dog walkers, backed by grassy dunes and low rise cliffs, it also has the historic Highcliffe Castle overlooking the beach.
This is a dog friendly beach, but dogs are banned between groynes H8 & H11 from 1st May to 30th Sept. Dogs are permitted on the gravel promenade if on a lead all year.
This beach is the first beach that links the South East to the South West, it is made up of sand and shingle, it is just a short drive away from the New Forest.
There is a large car park at Highcliffe beach with spaces for up to 400 cars along with a cafe and lifeguards during July and August.
Behind the beach you will find a criss-cross of paths, great for walking and exploring with easy access at the western end to Steamer Point Nature Reserve. Take a stroll for a 2.5 miles walk along the beach to Mudeford Quay where you can take the ferry across to Mudeford Sandbank.
