Leatherhead is an historic market town, surrounded by outstanding countryside and is the gateway to the nationally important and beautiful Surrey Hills.

It is not a large town, about 9,000 population, but it contains a surprising selection of shops, activities and events that draw visitors from nearby towns and villages.

The town is also well placed for visits to the stunning countryside that surrounds the whole of Leatherhead. Well marked paths and guided walking routes quickly lead from the town centre to open countryside.

Things to do in Leatherhead

For stunning landscapes mentioned as far back as in the Domesday Book, Bookham Commons is certainly one of the town's highlights to visit.

The commons' varied landscapes, from ancient oak woods to grassland plains and tranquil ponds, support an abundance of wildlife, which can be heard and seen throughout the seasons.

The Swan Shopping Centre is home to a modern series of high street names such as Boots, W H Smith and Next as well as a Sainsbury's.

As it reaches its 40th Anniversary this year, The Leatherhead Theatre goes from strength to strength, with a wealth of events and activities on offer throughout the year.
