Surrey
Box Hill is well worth a visit with spectacular views, lots of walking opportunities and great places nearby to sample local food & drink.
It’s easy to get here too. Simply catch the South Western Railway, Southern, or Great Western service to Dorking or hop on Metrobus 21 or Arriva 465.
At Box Hill
There are spectacular views and lots of walking trails and a natural play trail for young children. Don't miss the Stepping Stones - one of Surrey's iconic landmakrs to be found at the bottom of Box Hill and a great place to picnic alongside the River Mole.
Denbies Wine Estate is close by and depending on the weather you can take indoor or outdoor tours - there is a gift shop and great restaurant there too.
The Surrey Hills Brewery, a craft brewery where you can sample a variety of local beers is also based at Denbies Wine Estate.
Lots of Walks
The National Trust’s 3 mile Box Hill Riverside Walk is a delightful circular walk along the River Mole.
The Mole Gap Trail is a 6 mile route which takes you from Leatherhead to Dorking railway station along the River Mole.
The 2 mile Stepping Stones walk is a lovely walk which takes you past this iconic landmark, a perfect spot to stop and watch the river flow by.
For those wanting something more challenging Walk the Chalk is just for you. This 6.5 mile station to station walk takes you along the dramatic scarp slope of the North Downs, through some of the finest chalk grassland in Surrey.
Getting hungry?
Box Hill is well served for refreshments with a National Trust Servery and Café. At the foot of Box Hill is the Burford Bridge Hotel which has a good restaurant and Denbies Wine Estate has a café, farm shop & restaurant.
