Established as a charity over 50 years ago with over 100 members, we are a group of local professional designers and makers of fine, contemporary and traditional craftwork.
The Sussex Guild Shop & Gallery acts as a permanent information centre for all the Guild’s activities. It stands in Southover Grange, an imposing Elizabethan house overlooking Southover Grange Gardens. The Shop & Gallery is run as a cooperative with members taking it in turn to be on duty and so personally know the other makers.
There is a wide variety of spectacular contemporary work on show - including ceramics, furniture, glass, jewellery, metalwork, printmaking, textiles and woodwork. The Guild also organises six annual craft shows in Sussex in a variety of venues.
The very high standards of design, innovation and craftsmanship required for selection ensure that all items are well-designed and beautifully made. All work is for sale but commissions are accepted too with patrons contacting makers without intermediaries.
The Shop also has gift vouchers which make very acceptable presents. Adjacent to the Gallery in the beautiful Southover Grange Gardens, and open during the summer months, is a refreshment's kiosk, providing an excellent selection of sandwiches, drinks and delicious home-made cakes. The Shop & Gallery is open every day (except Christmas Day) from 10am - 5pm.
