Welcome to the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, where animal care and welfare is our priority. Nestled in 55 acres of stunning Isle of Wight countryside, our sanctuary is a haven for over 100 much loved donkeys and Shetland ponies. As a charity, we're dedicated to extending our caring ethos to visitors all year-round, offering free entry, free parking and a warm welcome to groups.
We’re very dog-friendly and offer a dedicated section on our café menu. Beyond our furry friends, our sanctuary doubles as a working farm, boasting countryside walks and bridlepaths leading to local villages and beauty spots.
Join us for a behind-the-scenes experience during your visit with one of our bookable activities, including Donkey Experiences, Pamper a Donkey or Shetland pony, and Donkey Grooming. During school holidays we offer free guided tours for the whole family.
Refuel at our award-winning café that offers a range of light meals, snacks, and cakes. New in 2024, enjoy our mouth-watering afternoon tea (bookable with 48 hours notice). And don't forget to explore our well-stocked gift shop, featuring unique gifts, many donkey themed, for every member of the family including four legged friends!
Established in 1987, our mission is to provide refuge, exceptional care, and new beginnings for donkeys and other equines in need. Many of our donkeys and ponies are available for adoption, allowing you to support our cause and adopt someone new into your family!
A visit to our sanctuary is more than just a day out—it's an opportunity to experience rural life, connect with animals, and support a worthy cause.
We look forward to seeing you.
