Peacock Country Inn

About

The Peacock Inn stands in a truly unspoiled location at the very edge of the stunning Chiltern Hills, with inspirational views across the Oxfordshire and Buckingamshire countryside. As a stopping point on the National Ridgeway Trail, this oasis of warm hospitality is a very popular choice for walking and cycling breaks.

The Peacock Country Inn is owned and run by Martin Roberts, who came across it whilst walking the Ridgeway in August 2004. No matter whether you’ve been working up an appetite walking, hiking, cycling or sightseeing, or simply relaxing, Martin and his staff extend a friendly welcome and fully appreciate the importance of great service and honest, fresh pub food at affordable prices.

Tasty and unpretentious homemade food draws on fresh local produce – some from the pub’s own allotment. From lasagna to fish and chips, and classic puddings such as sticky toffee pudding, traditional pub favourites are always on the seasonally changing menu. A feature of the kitchen is the old original stock pot used to cook up hearty winter dishes. At weekends, locals congregate to enjoy the pub’s renowned Sunday roast.

In the summer, a lovely outdoor seating area is perfect for al fresco dining while soaking up the sunshine and the peace and quiet of the Oxfordshire countryside.

The private and serene bedrooms come in various configurations – all are ensuite and one features a disabled shower. Recently refurbished, calm neutral colours and rich earthy tones give a stylish contemporary feel. Some of the rooms have spectacular views across the fields to Bledlow Ridge.

Man’s best friend is always welcome here, too, and can even stay over with you in the bedrooms. Being just down the road from Stoke Mandeville Hospital, The Peacock goes out of the way to accommodate visitors with disabilities; owner Martin believes in working with the community and also offers a sanctuary for many local clubs and associations.

A light, spacious meeting room with its lovely views over the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire countryside is a popular choice amongst corporate clients.
