It’s all about the animals at the Rare Breeds Centre, where you will get the chance to meet cows, horses, rabbits, goats and much, much more!
Set in 100 acres of stunning grounds there’s a lot to see and do on this farm. Start your adventure in our animal barn where you will get the chance to meet and stroke the animals. Explore all our animal displays, where you can see pigs, birds, sheep and not forgetting our brand-new ferret enclosure where you can meet Al and Beano.
Join us for our famous pig racing which runs from April – October, with the chance for children to take part. Don’t forget to pick your favourite before they set off!
Our Butterfly Tunnel will be next on your adventure, we have a variety of native and tropical butterflies in the tunnel, featuring species from South America, Africa, the Indian subcontinent, the Philippines and Australasia. Our Discovery Garden is right round the corner, where you will find seasonal fruit and veg growing, and you might even see a ripe strawberry ready to be eaten before the birds do.
Our tractor ride, which runs daily, and now with an accessible trailer so that everyone can take part in the fun. Will take you up to the top of the farm passing sheep, squirrels and our beautiful woodlands. We encourage people to explore our three woodland walks, all varying in length, follow the signposts to make your way round.
Our tractor ride will also take you past our multiple playparks, including Mysterious Marsh where everyone can practice their balancing, swinging and climbing skills, whilst avoiding the marsh trolls. Hill Fort which offers a zipwire, giant tube maze, wooden hill fort and outdoor assault course, ready for hours of fun!
When you are feeling a bit peckish, our Granary Restaurant located at the farm entrance serves a variety of freshly cooked food (vegan and vegetarian options available too, speak to one of the restaurant team to discuss your needs) all barista coffees, with milk alternatives, a selection of ice creams and yummy cakes, made by the people we support.
Make sure to check out our website for upcoming events and updates on what’s happening on the farm.
The best part? With every visit to The Rare breeds Centre, you are also supporting our charity, Canterbury Oast Trust, which supports adults with learning disabilities to achieve their aspirations for how they wish to live, learn and work.
Open all year! Something for all the family! More than a day’s worth of fun and activity!
