Cecil Hepworth, a pioneer of the British film industry, made silent films in Walton from 1899 until 1924. The site was taken over by Nettlefold Studios in 1926 and was used for the production of television series such as ‘The Adventures of Robin Hood’ starring Richard Greene, outside filming for which took place at Ashley Park.
The arts are still present in Walton. See a film at the Walton Screen Cinema, and enjoy music, art and theatre at Riverhouse Arts Centre in Manor Road, close to the river. Walton is also the venue for the annual Elmbridge Fashion Show.
