About

Bursledon is a village on the River Hamble in Hampshire and is located within the borough of Eastleigh.

Close to the city of Southampton, Bursledon has a railway station, a marina and dockyards.

The original bridge carrying what is now the A27 road across the River Hamble was made of wood in 1783, and was a toll bridge. Bursledon's waterside position and woodland surroundings made it a natural location for building wooden ships.

Things to do in Bursledon

The Brickworks Museum will give you a chance to see the only remaining steam driven brickworks remaining in the country.

Once a thriving business making 20 million bricks a year the factory closed in 1974 still using all its original Victorian machinery and buildings.

The story takes the visitor round the museum following the route of a lump of clay as it becomes a brick.

Visit this 200 year old Bursledon Windmill, fully restored and in working order.

Take a look at the accommodation in Hampshire.

Other features on site include the Chineham Barn, rescued from demolition, which houses the ticket office and other visitor facilities; the Hiltingbury Granary and the mill pond.

Why not experience Manor Farm Coutry Park, a delightful mix of woodland, riverside and open space.

Come and visit the filming location for the BBC series ‘Wartime Farm’ and see for yourself where Ruth Goodman, Alex Langlands and Peter Ginn cooked and farmed as people would have done during the second world war years.
