Half-term Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Storytelling

Saturday 10 to Sunday 26 February (closed Mondays)

Join us every day during the half-term holiday for storytelling from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Our expert storytellers will read extracts from the book with plenty of actions, noises and ways to get involved.

For all ages.

Free with Museum admission, no need to book just listen out for announcements on the day

Wonka's Clay Chocolate Box

Tuesday 13 and Friday 23 February, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, and 3pm

Find out about the sweets in Willy Wonka's factory and learn about Roald's own chocolate box, then create your own chocolate box out of clay. You can even design some clay sweeties to go inside.

Clay can be marvellously messy so make sure you wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. We'll provide you with an apron to wear (and do all the cleaning up you lucky lot!).

For age 5 and over.

Clay Factory Landscapes

Wednesday 14 and Thursday 22 February, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, and 3pm

Listen to some descriptions of Willy Wonka's magical factory, then make your own factory landscape out of clay. You'll play with textures and patterns in clay using a variety of materials to shape your designs.

Clay can be marvellously messy so make sure you wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. We'll provide you with an apron to wear (and do all the cleaning up you lucky lot!).

For age 5 and over.

Make a Marvellous Contraption

Thursday 15, Friday 16, Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 February, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, and 3pm

Willy Wonka's factory was full of magical machines that made all sorts of delightful treats from Everlasting Gobstoppers to Hot Ice Cream for Cold Days. Inspired by these, you'll invent your own contraptions using junk materials. What will your machine create?

My Year Walk - February

Sunday 25 February, 11.30am and 2pm

Embrace the seasons on a guided Roald Dahl countryside walk; kick up some leaves, ramble through woods and listen to extracts from Roald Dahl's My Year in the beautiful woods and fields that inspired the book.

This month we'll be reading extracts from the February chapter of My Year, Roald Dahl's last book. We'll look for some signs of life in the winter months and go right into the heart of the woods that inspired Fantastic Mr Fox.

For age 5 and over.

£4 per person in addition to Museum entry

(option to pre-order a hot drink and cake to be waiting for you on your return for £6 per person – please order by midday Thurs 22 Feb by emailing hello@roalddahlmuseum.org)

Under 16's will need to be accompanied at all times. In paid craft workshops no more than two non-paying accompaniers per child. Adults are welcome to join in with workshops and pay to make their own. Everybody attending a My Year walk will need to pay for a space.
