About

The London Gem & Mineral Show is back and packed with fascinating highlights for geology enthusiasts, families, and anyone intrigued by the science of Earth's treasures. Taking place on the 23rd and 24th of November, this event is an immersive experience featuring rare fossils, stunning crystals, hands-on demonstrations, and exclusive talks by industry experts.

Event Highlights:

>WOW Rocks: Live Cracking Station: A standout attraction, this live demonstration will give visitors the chance to see ancient Jurassic fossils and dazzling geodes unveiled for the first time. Seasoned experts will perform rock-cracking, revealing beautiful formations and fossils preserved for over 180 million years.

>Demo Hub: Visitors can get creative by crafting their own gemstone and silver jewelry, learning from skilled artisans about mineral techniques used in jewelry making. It's a rare opportunity for hands-on learning and crafting.

>Learning Lab: This educational space offers workshops covering the scientific principles behind mineral formation and geological processes. Led by geologist Luisa Hendry, the Identification of Rocks and Minerals workshop lets attendees handle real rock and mineral samples, explore mineral hardness, and learn classification techniques. For a small additional fee, visitors gain unique insights into rock formation and mineral properties.

>WOW Talks – A Series of Expert Discussions: The event's signature talks feature prominent speakers from the world of mineralogy and gemology:

>>>Isaac and Sofia Andreou, stars of Outback Opal Hunters, will offer insights on opal mining and identification, showcasing rare opal specimens.
>>>Jolyon Ralph, founder of the mineral database Mindat.org, will discuss global mineral identification and how the platform aids both amateurs and professionals.
>>>Sarah Caldwell Steele, a gemologist, will dive into the history and scientific lore of the gemstone Jet in her talk, Vampires, Mummies, and that Old Black Magic: The Legacy of Whitby's Jet.
>>>Justin Prim, an expert gem cutter, will share the technical and artistic aspects of transforming rough stones into stunning gems.
>>>GeologyVibes will spotlight Pakistan's growing gem market, highlighting how advancements in technology are shaping the industry's future.

>Supporting a Cause: This year, The London Gem & Mineral Show partners with the Kimbilio Congo Children Trust, an organization providing sanctuary, education, and opportunities for children formerly working in hazardous cobalt mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A portion of the show's proceeds will support this cause, helping to transform young lives.

>Tickets start at just £10, and workshops can be added for a more in-depth experience. Don't miss this chance to explore the natural wonders beneath our feet, discover new knowledge, and meet passionate experts in the field. For more information and tickets, visit www.thegemandmineralshow.com.
