Set in acres of West Sussex countryside, West Dean College is just 6 miles from historic Chichester and 13 minutes’ drive from the heart of the South Downs National Park. The Sussex Coast can be reached after 20 minutes by car.
The rooms in this characterful and quirky period property are mostly traditional in style. Some rooms are more modern and contemporary. Many rooms feature garden views and bathrooms offer either a bath or a shower, with complimentary toiletries and towels.
In the mornings, the West Dean College serves breakfast in the refectory of the college, which is internationally renowned for conservation and creative arts.
Guests will receive free entry to West Dean’s famous and beautifully landscaped gardens. An array of activities can be enjoyed onsite, including walks through the stunning arboretum, croquet, and tennis. The outdoor heated swimming pool is open during summer.

If you are travelling by bus, from either Chichester or Midhurst direction, please note the number 60 bus stops very close to the West Dean Gardens entrance. However the stop is not marked on the stagecoach timetable or on their website. Therefore, if travelling from the Midhurst direction it is the stop after the West Dean Gardens entrance, and if travelling from Chichester direction it is the stop after The Selsey Arms, in West Dean village. Visitors may enter the Gardens via the nearby pedestrian gate. Direct train services to Chichester are available from London Victoria. Connecting buses (Stagecoach number 60) are available from South Street, alternatively a taxi rank is situated outside the station. It is a 10-15 minute journey to West Dean College.
