Rother
A museum of water heritage pumping machinery, mainly from the steam era. The collection comprises examples of triple expansion and compound steam pumps dating from 1889 and all capable of being demonstrated currently by compressed air, but ultimately under steam power.
The original tall engine houses (now Listed) and dating from 1904 and 1940 display building construction and architectural styles typical of Victorian and Art Deco periods. The restoration is being undertaken by the dedicated Society volunteers committed to keeping alive engineering skills of the past for future generations.
Open every first Saturday of the month 10.00am - 4.00pm, plus Bank Holiday Mondays.
Entry is free, donations welcome.
