Mid Sussex is a district that is topped by London Gatwick Airport and the historic town of East Grinstead in the north, Saddlescombe and Poynings in the south, Horsted Keys and Ashurtwood in the east, and Pease Pottage in the west. It is part of West Sussex and covers around 129 square miles.

60% of the district is designated as a National Landscape, this includes 10% of the South Downs National Park and 50% of High Weald. Mid Sussex's main towns include East Grinstead, charming Burgess Hill, and vibrant Haywards Heath.  The area welcomes visitors with some outstanding places to visit including Balcombe Viaduct (also known as Ouse Valley Viaduct), with its 37 identical arches and 11 million bricks, the beautiful 78-hectare Ardingly Reservoir, an array of outstanding gardens, award-winning vineyards, and famous natural landmarks like Devils Dyke. One of the features of the area and Sussex beyond is the Jack & Jill Windmills that litter the countryside.

For breathtaking landscapes and some of the best views in the UK, it is one of the best places to visit. Legend has it that the devil himself dug a valley in what is now the South Downs National Park to flood the Sussex Weald. Visitors will find tree-covered ridges, dramatic sandstone outcrops, and wooded valleys in the High Weald - the perfect rambler's choice.

The Worth Way runs seven miles along a disused railway line from Three Bridges to East Grinstead - you'll find chalk-loving plants like the common spotted orchid and wild strawberry along the way.

You can experience the Mid Sussex countryside in lots of different ways: - paragliding at Devils Dyke, sailing at Wier Wood reservoir, unearthing the hidden waterfall at Bedelands Nature Reserve, get active with all types of water sports at the onside activity centre at Ardingly reservoir, or enjoy the views walking across the beautiful south downs.

Bordering Tandridge, Wealden, Lewes, Brighton & Hove, Horsham, and Crawley, it is easy to stumble into Mid Sussex and not even know - but it is definitely a place to enjoy, and one that you won't forget.
