Some of the street names of Ringmer refer to its past. Springett Avenue is named after Ringmer resident, Gulielma Springett who married William Penn (the founder of Pennsylvania in the USA), whilst Sadlers Way and Harvard Road are named after Anne Sadler and her husband John Harvard (the founder of Harvard University).

Ringmer has grown considerably during the last 40 years. It has a large green by the parish church, surrounded by cottages.

Naturalist Gilbert White often stayed in Ringmer with his Aunt Rebecca Snooke. She owned Timothy the Tortoise who who featured in White's, The Natural History of Selborne. Today, Timothy is featured on the village sign.
