Richard Coles will be coming to Winchester Cathedral to discuss his extraordinary life and career – from pop star to parish vicar to award winning novelist and broadcaster.
He was the co-presenter of Radio 4's Saturday Live for 12 years; a contestant on Strictly when he scored a lamentably low mark for a Paso Doble; and the author of THE MADNESS OF GRIEF, written after the death of his partner, David Coles.
Richard and Dean Catherine first met when she was the Vicar of Huddersfield and he was sent on placement to her church as part of his Theological College training.
"As a former fan of the Communards I was delighted when Richard was sent to us and tried hard not to treat him any differently. I wondered how on earth he would make the transition into the priesthood and parish ministry. Needless to say, I had nothing to worry about. I've watched him over the years bring it all together with brilliance, passion, and aplomb."
Together they will explore how loss and faith have shaped his life and why writing has become so important to him.
His new book A DEATH IN THE PARISH is the second in his series of crime novels featuring Canon Clement. The first, MURDER BEFORE EVENSONG was an instant Sunday Times bestseller.
Books are available to purchase at this event and a book signing will take place following the talk (8.00pm-9.00pm).
Timings of the event: 45 minutes conversation, followed by 15 minutes Q&A, ending with 60 minutes post-event book signing.
