About

Longhope Opera: A Magical Summer's Evening

Join Longhope Opera on the 6th and 7th of July for their fifth production in the picturesque and remote village of Newton Valence in Hampshire. Enjoy intimate performances of Donizetti's roaring comedy, 'Don Pasquale' while soaking up some of the best views in the South Downs and indulging in a bespoke dining experience.

The production company behind this endeavour is Scherzo Ensemble. The charity's mission is brought to full fruition each summer by creating professional opportunities for talented emerging singers, orchestral musicians, creatives, crew, and management staff in the opera industry.

Whether a seasoned opera-goer or a newcomer to the genre, Longhope Opera is a delightful way to spend a summer's day. Guests are invited to take walks around the grounds, enjoy the various outdoor chamber recitals and attend a drinks reception before taking their seats for the main event. After the first act, there is a long dining interval where guests can enjoy a unique catered dinners or their own picnic hampers while overlooking the rolling hills of the South Downs as the sun sets.

A truly hidden gem in the UK's cultural landscape, this fledgling opera festival is worth clearing your schedule for.
