D-Day Memorial Service
Portsmouth
Portsmouth
Portsmouth will mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day with its traditional commemoration at The D-Day Memorial near Southsea Seafront.
'The D-Day Stone' has been the location of many commemoration events taking place on 6 June, with the event to mark the 75th anniversary being particularly memorable as a huge number of people turned out on a warm June day to pay their respects and see the small parade of veterans and members of the Armed Forces who marched to the memorial service.
Details for this year's commemoration service are being finalised so check back to this page for updates; they will be published here as soon as they are confirmed.
Provisional timings:
Public arrive from 10.30am
Memorial starts 11am (including a veterans' parade from Canoe Lake)
Memorial ends by 12pm
