Journey from sculptor to sculptor to explore the Cathedral’s architecture and contents through worked material.
A remarkable opportunity to view the works of William Braithwaite, Colin Reid, Almuth Tebbenhoff, Patricia Volk and Peter Walker under one roof.
Five talented sculptors have been invited to place their work within the majestic interior of Winchester Cathedral, specifically in locations which share the same materials to create new and different ways of seeing and understanding the architecture and objects within this historic building.

The exhibition will run from 12th May to 2nd July and entry will be included with a general admission ticket. The exhibition will be complemented by the following events (additional tickets required).

Curator’s Tour with Peter Walker
Join a limited number of special guided tours.
Hosted by Winchester Cathedral’s very own artistic director, curator of the exhibition, and sculptor Peter Walker, visitors will be introduced to this exciting exhibition; learn about the diverse and individual artworks and how each is linked to the majestic building in which they are displayed.

Artists' Panel Talk with Private Viewing
Join all five of ‘The Elements of Sculpture’ artists – William Braithwaite, Colin Reid, Almuth Tebbenhoff, Patricia Volk, and Peter Walker in an hour-long panel discussion, followed by entry to the exhibition private view to see their work in-situ.

Creative workshops for young people with Winchester Colour Factory
If you are a young person with an interest in art, design, and making, this is the perfect workshop for you.
Limited spaces. Recommended age, 10-16.

Sculpture workshops for adults with Winchester Colour Factory
Join Winchester Cathedral and the Winchester Colour Factory for an evening workshop which will take you on a journey of discovery through the Cathedral, culminating in participants making original sculptures that will be shown alongside the exhibition artworks.
SUNDAY 2ND JULY, 10.00AM-4.00PM
Plaster Casting with William Braithwaite
Join William Braithwate for a day-long workshop that will give you the opportunity to learn about plaster casting, mould building and how to shape plaster forms.
It includes a guided tour of The Elements of Sculpture exhibition in Winchester Cathedral; all equipment and materials provided; lunch, and refreshments throughout the day.
